What We Clear in Gainesville

Clean, Open Land
Without Clear-Cutting It

Most Gainesville land clearing isn't about leveling everything. It's about getting the underbrush, saplings, and downed trees out while leaving the mature pines and oaks that make the property worth having. That's exactly what forestry mulching does.

01, Forestry Mulching
Underbrush & Overgrowth Mulching

One machine grinds underbrush, saplings, and limbs into mulch left on the ground as cover. No burn piles, no hauling, clean, open woods in a single pass.

02, Selective Clearing
Keep the Trees You Want

We clear the junk growth and leave your mature pines and oaks standing. You end up with park-like land, not a bare dirt lot.

03, Fallen & Dead Trees
Storm Debris & Deadfall Cleanup

Fallen trees, dead pines, and limb piles cleared out and mulched down. Common on Gainesville and Alachua County properties after storms.

04, Lot Clearing
Lot & Acreage Clearing

Full or partial clearing for landowners and builders, homesites, pastures, trails, and fence lines across Alachua County.

Recent Job, South of Gainesville

Half-Acre Property Cleanup,
Gainesville Area

A landowner wanted the south end of their wooded property cleaned up, years of underbrush, fallen trees, and limbs choking out otherwise beautiful woods. The goal wasn't to strip it bare. It was to open it back up and keep the good trees.

The situation. About a half-acre on the south side of the property was thick with undergrowth, saplings, and downed pines and limbs, the kind of overgrowth that makes land unusable and hides everything worth looking at.

How we did it. We ran a skid steer with a forestry mulching head and worked through it, grinding the underbrush, saplings, and fallen wood into mulch and taking down the big junk trees. Everything got mulched into the ground instead of piled and burned.

The result. Clean, open, park-like woods, the mature pines and oaks left standing, a soft mulch floor, and a property the owner can actually walk, use, and enjoy again. No burn scars, no hauling, no mess left behind.

Problems We Solve
on Alachua County Land

The land around Gainesville grows over fast. Most of what we clear comes down to three things.

Overgrown, Unusable Woods

Underbrush, vines, and saplings take over until you can't walk the property. We mulch it back to open, usable land and leave the trees worth keeping.

Fallen & Storm-Damaged Trees

North Central Florida storms drop pines and limbs everywhere. We clear the deadfall and mulch it down so it's not a fire load or an eyesore sitting on your land.

Clearing Without Clear-Cutting

You don't want a bare dirt lot, you want clean woods. Selective forestry mulching lets us open the land up while keeping the mature canopy you paid for.

FAQ

Gainesville Land Clearing:
Common Questions

It depends on the acreage, how thick the underbrush and trees are, and whether you want to keep the mature trees. A light underbrush and forestry-mulching job on a half-acre is on the lower end; heavy timber or full lot clearing runs higher. JGH gives free on-site estimates, call 386-288-2212 and we'll walk the property with you.
Forestry mulching uses one machine, a skid steer with a mulching head, to grind underbrush, saplings, limbs, and small trees into mulch that stays on the ground as natural cover. No burn piles, no hauling. It's faster and cleaner than traditional clearing, and the mulch helps hold the soil and slow regrowth.
Yes. That's selective clearing, and it's one of the most common jobs we do near Gainesville. We mulch out the underbrush, saplings, and fallen limbs and leave the mature pines and oaks you want to keep, clean, open, park-like woods instead of a bare lot. We did exactly this on a recent half-acre property south of Gainesville.
With forestry mulching, most of the debris is ground into mulch and left on site as ground cover, so there are usually no burn piles and no hauling. For larger trees or where the owner wants the material removed, we can cut, pile, and haul as needed. We'll go over what fits your property during the estimate.
